Lightning Ridge trip 2010
By Phil Creaser
04 August 2010
Recently, a trip was made to visit Lightning Ridge with a number of objectives. Foremost amongst these was to collect some fossil-rich material from a particularly-intriguing mine and this was highly successful with a range of interesting fossils recovered.
Meetings were also held with officials from the Australian Opal Centre on a range of issues related to opal fossils and a number of old mine workings visited and inspected for fossils.
In addition, a number of opal fossil collections were inspected and valued. Lightning Ridge is continuing to produce many significant fossils including early monotremes and dinosaurs.
